Reminders and AFK for your members

Members set their own reminders and an away status, with no setup needed.

.remind sets a reminder in plain terms: .remind 2h check the stream, .remind 18:00 raid, .remind tomorrow 9am standup or .remind 28 Sep 18:00 event starts. Add dm to get it by DM. .remind list shows what is coming up and .remind cancel 2 removes one.

Clock times are UTC, like every schedule in Modu, and the confirmation shows the time as a Discord timestamp, which each member sees in their own timezone. Each member can have 25 reminders waiting in a server, up to a year ahead.

.afk studying marks a member as away and renames them to "Nova is AFK". Anyone who mentions them gets a short note with the reason and how long they have been gone, at most once a minute per channel. The status turns off, and their old nickname comes back, when they next send a message.

What you get

Reminders by duration, clock time, tomorrow or date
Delivered in the channel or by DM
Times shown in each member's own timezone
AFK status with a reason, cleared automatically
Mentions of an away member get a short, self-deleting note

Set it up by asking

Connect your server, open a chat and describe what you want. For example:

“Post a short guide to .remind and .afk in #bot-commands”

Commands

The default prefix is . and each server can change it. See every command in the command reference.

.remind [dm] <when> <what>: Get pinged later: 2h, 18:00, tomorrow 9am or 28 Sep 18:00 (UTC). Also: remind list, remind cancel <number>.
.afk [message]: Mark yourself as away; people who mention you are told why. It turns off when you next send a message.

Questions

How do I set a reminder on Discord?

In a server with Modu, type .remind followed by when and what, for example .remind 2h check the stream. Add dm to get it in your DMs.

What timezone do reminders use?

Clock times you type are UTC. The confirmation shows the exact time as a Discord timestamp in your own timezone, so you can check it.

How do I turn AFK off?

Just send any message in the server. Modu welcomes you back and turns the status off.

Reminders and AFK is included in every paid plan. Compare plans, read how Modu works or continue with Discord.
